After obtaining a BA and standard teaching credential at U.C., Berkeley, and a Masters in English at Cal State University, Long Beach, I taught at Nogales High School, La Puente, for 20 years.

My interests include gardening, reading, and mountaineering. Most of the last has been with the Sierra Club and private expeditions. I've climbed all 50 state high points, over 280 Sierra Nevada peaks, 100 desert peaks, and 300 local mountains. My personal altitude record is Noshaq in Afghanistan at 24,583 feet. I am now working on completing the Pacific Crest Trail.
